The house was built in the 1800's and it still has the wine vat from the days of being a maison du vignerons,. It has also seen life as a café during the war and was a bar/restaurant in 1970's and 80s. Its thick walls maintain a pleasant room temperature even on the hottest days.
Gite Florence has a private garden which is on the banks of the river Vernazobre, where you can swim, relax, eat and unwind. It is possible to fish from the river bank for smaller fish (fishing permits are available locally) or 5 minutes away there are larger fish. There is a lot of wildlife to see, including ducks, kingfishers, egrets, herons, many birds of prey, fish, frogs, toads, pine martins, stoats and if you are very lucky a black mink.
We are perfectly located in the heart of the Saint Chinian wine area, on the borders of the Languedoc Nature Park, the mountains and the Mediterranean beaches. With good weather April to October, the whole area is very popular for walking, exploring, wine and cycling, many competitions are held locally and The Tour de France is a frequent visitor to the area. and bikes can be hired locally.. The village is serviced by an 'on demand' bus service which can transport you to St Chinian where other bus services can take you to other destinations in the area.
