Summary: The ground floor apartment is located in a small quiet development of houses 5 minutes by car outside Argentiere La Bessee just off the road to Vallouise and on peninsular between the Durance and Gyronde rivers. The supermarkets, shops and restaurants of the town are easily accessible. Those of Guillestre and Briancon are 10 - 15 km away. We came for a week of kayaking and for us it was excellent, but it would also suit cyclists, walkers, climbers or those simply wishing to explore this corner of the Alps. From the very start Veronique and Michel looked after us very well. They helped sort out a booking problem, warned us about transport strikes and petriol shortages before we arrived, were there to greet and see us off and solved a problem (we caused) with the TV late one evening. Otherwise we were left to enjoy the property. The apartment consists of a large kitchen/dinning/communal room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. All were fantastically well equipped. Outside there is a small terrace with table and chairs that catch the sun most of the day and look out over the steep garden, the Gyronde valley and the mountains beyond. A great place to take breakfast or chill after a hard day on the rivers. The central kitchen/dinner has large double fridge/freezer, a cooker with oven, capsule and other coffee makers, a good supply of crockery and saucepans and all the implements that would be needed. There is a large central work surface/table with stools. In addition there are armchairs and a lounger that doubles as an occasional bed. The satellite-TV is on the wall, providing a good selection of French channels. The is a good sized double bedroom, with shelf and wardrobe storage and a useful writing desk. There is also a smaller room containing full sized double bunk. We were three adults, but it would sleep four. The central room and the double bedroom had shuttered windows that shared the view over the valley and mountains. The shower room was not cramped and contained a selection of cleaning equipment and materials, a washing machine, extra towels, a heated towel rack and foldable clothes horse. The apartment was comfortable and a delight, and more than we could have hoped for. Thank you.
