Summary: 4 adults in the 40s/60s from Poland. We stayed at Cavalo Preto in the middle of May 2014. The place is a relatively new development in a still quiet area - unlike busy Albufeira - perfect for people looking for peaceful escape. We all agreed it was the first time that a summer holiday rental exceeded our expectations. Close to the ocean, which can be seen from the balcony, with probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place relatively close to the Faro airport. We were told that probably the car is the best option to come to Cavalo Preto, however, I'd still recommend it to anyone without a car as it's relatively easy to get to - either by the pre-arranged airport pickup service offered by the owners or by taxi or simply by the local bus and approx. 15 minute walk from the stop. There are a number of general goods shops within a 10-15 minute walking distance. If you happen to come by car, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the large shopping centre in Faro with well stocked Jumbo store, or 5 minutes to the nearest Lidl store in the outskirts of Quarteira. By saying "quality" I mean every aspect of it - there's (almost) everything one needs in everyday life plus ample space inside (living room) and outside (terrace/balcony). Parking area is under the ground so it was good for the car to keep it cool during the day. The place is really clean and very well looked after - swimming pool had filters cleaned every day, plants and lawn area was regularly watered. Our apartment comprised 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room with dining area, huge sofa, flat screen TV and a wifi modem I ordered at the time of booking, and a decently equipped kitchen with brand new and branded appliances. All of the devices were fully operational and clean. UK and Irish travellers will be happy to know there IS a toaster :) There's even an electric juice squeezer and 2 kinds of coffee makers - the one requiring filters and a mocca one. Regarding the kitchen - if I am to be more fastidious, all I'd say would be that a few more utensils would come handy e.g. garlic press, skewers and a casserole dish BUT they are not a must and we managed perfectly well without them - especially that there are plenty of places to eat all over Quarteira, with great fish restaurants down the pedestrian area close to the fish market. It was a truly nice experience and I hope to come there again. Thank you, M&V - rafal
