This spacious holiday home from the walls of a former 16th century monastery with its completely secluded location surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and meadows is simply perfect for 8 holidaymakers.

The house offers two living areas on 3 floors, which are connected by a shared courtyard garden.

The upper living area offers 1 large bedroom with shower/WC and bathtub. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and a living/dining room with a table for 8 people and a wood-burning stove. This living area is complemented by a balcony with a view of the valley and outdoor seating overlooking the forecourt.

The lower living area is barrier-free on one floor. It offers 2 large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom: one with shower/WC, the other with wheelchair-accessible shower, bath and WC with supports. There is also a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a dining/living room area with an extendable table for 8 people and a wood-burning stove. A separate outdoor seating area with a view of the valley completes this part of the house.

In the courtyard garden there is another large bedroom with its own WC.
There is also a barbecue area, a large dining table and parasols in the courtyard.

There are fans in every room, plus a mobile air conditioning unit that can be rolled from room to room!

There is also unlimited WLAN, 2 TVs with DVD players, board games, a table tennis table and a small library.

From the house and the large heated pool you can see far into the Aiguillion valley, the "Val de Cèze" and the open 11 hectares of olive trees on the property.

The large lawns are perfect for outdoor games. Inside the house you will discover balconies, terraces and ancient vaults, plus a charming courtyard with a large barbecue and grotto.

Organic wine is grown in our own vineyards and produced by the Domaine de TRESCOMBIER. We also produce our own organic olive oil and cultivate lavender and various types of fruit.

The area offers a wealth of activities and history. Hiking, horse riding, cycling and canoeing are just a few examples.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Yara the host is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and was able to answer all our questions in advance of arrival. It was lovely to know she was on site if we needed anything. Her sister Beatrice was also really friendly and helped give us lifts back from Goudargues after dinner. We really enjoyed our meal at La Galatine. The monastery is located in a beautiful spot on the hill, surrounded by fields with amazing views. There are lots of decent food shopping options nearby and a little further afield is a big supermarket. The monastery was actually more like a villa - we had expected thick stone walls and cool temperatures but it was actually really hot inside, only partially relieved by the provided fans. It was unusually hot (36 deg) but air conditioning was sorely missed. We travelled with 6 children who all enjoyed the pool immensely. It was a good size though quite deep with no shallow end. We could have done with more sun loungers - only 7 provided for 12 occupants, and no shade other than one parasol meant we had to move them onto the grass under a tree. One thing worth noting, the upper floors are only accessible from the lower ground level via outside steep and uneven stone steps. We all felt very nervous watching the children clambering up and down these every day to get to and from the kitchen, but thankfully there were no falls. It also meant we were cut off from the kitchen during the heavy rain we had for three days (without getting wet). There were a lot of cats in the grounds who kept away from us, but we did unfortunately find a bit of cat mess on the lawns around the pool and near the kitchen which got trodden on by one of the kids. The local area has a lot to offer, being within 30 mins of Uzes and having lots of activity options such as horse riding and kayaking. Overall it was a lovely place to stay, with reasonable facilities for the price and a friendly host. Thank you Yara for being so welcoming.
