Positive: As there are not many reviews I will make this as detailed as possible. It was the first time I risked booking somewhere with no reviews (at the time of booking) but the company had such a good score I did risk it and I'm glad I did. The location is great - only a few minutes from the coast path which takes you into town in 10-15 minutes depending how many times you stop to admire the incredible views. There is a coffee roastery, organic gin distillery (if you like whiskey you have to try the stuff he isn't allowed to call whiskey) and a biscuiterie all 5 minutes walk away. If you don't want to use the coast path it is about the same distance by road. It is uphill on the way back but not steep if you're used to Devon hills like us. It is mostly quiet with only occasional distant traffic noise if outside. Some barking dogs but not often or for long. The garden was smaller than expected. The tall walls mean no long views however it is a very wildlife friendly garden full of bees, butterflies and birds. There is a small lizard living in the corner who will come out if you are still and quiet and we loved watching the bluetits feeding their young in the nest box in the hedge. Full sun all day but no parasol although there is a base. The layout is hard to grasp from the description. On your right as you enter is a bedroom with kingsize bed (slightly larger than a British kingsize. We managed to force our fitted sheet on but it kept popping off in the night so you might want to take a flat sheet). No hanging space but there are drawers. On a mezzanine above is a playroom which would be great for yoga or meditation. Only one bathroom and toilet but great shower. The other bedrooms are through the kitchen/dining/living. One superkingsize with twin above up a very steep stair. Take big pillowcases as they are the French square pillows. Lots of crockery/cutlery . Don't expect English to be spoken as this is a place for French tourists.
Negative: Instructions for heating needed. We managed to get the bedroom heater working through trial and error but the living room one just made annoying noises but never got warm. Luckily there were fleecy blankets to keep us warm. Oddly for a country where bread and coffee are staples, there was no bread board or knife and no way to make fresh coffee. There is a coffee pod machine but no pods. No filter machine or French press however we always take our own just in case. Only 1 sharp knife but again we take our own. There was nowhere to hang coats which would be a real problem if more than two people with wet coats. We hung ours on the two chairs at the dining table. Also only 3 places to hang towels in the bathroom so again no good for more than 2 people as one is needed for a hand towel. Nowhere to sit to get boots on/off except outside. It wasn't clear before we booked that they charge for cleaning. We did it ourselves and it didn't take too long. It also wasn't clear that one bed was a superking which we don't have bedding for but the kingsize was super comfortable and big enough. They do leave bedding and towels there in case you forget yours but you have to pay. No sink in toilet so you have to wash your hands in the kitchen sink if someone is using the bathroom but no hand soap provided there, only washing up liquid.
Summary: Tastefully furnished, mostly well equipped in a great location. Great high ceilings, lots of light.
